I went to the beach over the weekend, down to Topsail Island. Ahh...it was so nice to get away and finally get to the beach.
Not that I really have anything to "get away" from - I just sit on my ass all day.
But I love the beach. I mean, it's rather sad that this was the first time that I've been to the beach this summer. Summers should always be spent at the beach - but not in the same manner as that asshat from New Jersey on "MTV's True Life".
Anyway, back to the story: I love the beach. Even though we only had a couple hours of sun on Friday afternoon, I still had a great time.
Also of note is that I fired a gun (or several) for the very first time. I'm pretty sure all I've ever fired before were pellet guns, so this was quite a step up. I fired a P22 pump-action rifle, some kind of assault rifle, and a .357 Magnum. Hardcore. I think I tried too hard to actually hit the target - I should have just concentrated on enjoying the feeling of blasting away. Shooting for the sake of shooting, I guess. In any case, I felt really badass firing the magnum one-handed. Not very accurate, and wow what a kick! I am disappointed that my friend's .32 rifle locked up, that would have been pretty sweet to fire (it was LOUD).
I'm not going to turn into some red-neck gun-toting moron. I probably won't even go out shooting any more (unless I can fire a different kind of gun, and it's free). But I can see why people like guns so much.
I still don't see why people are allowed to have them. We should all just train with swords instead. They're much more elegant.
